Security forces have recovered a substantial cache of cash and Maoist materials hidden deep in the forests of Gariaband district, Chhattisgarh, officials said, marking a significant anti-insurgency success. Acting on intelligence from surrendered Maoists, personnel from the Gariaband Police E-30 unit and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) located multiple dump sites near Badegobra village in the Mainpur police station area and unearthed ₹46,31,500 in cash, along with firearms, ammunition, laptops, detonators, mobile phones and other materials associated with the outlawed Maoist movement.
A senior official said the recovery was made after mapping locations based on inputs from former Maoist cadres, and added that sustained anti-Naxal operations over the past two years have either neutralised or led to the surrender of all listed cadres of the Dhamtari-Gariaband-Nuapada (DGN) division in the region.
The finds include weapons and Maoist paraphernalia that could have supported insurgent operations, underlining ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle militant infrastructure and curb left-wing extremist activities in central India’s forest belt.
