A major political statement has emerged ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections. Santrupt Mishra, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate and political secretary to Naveen Patnaik, said there has been a temporary deal with the Congress regarding the election. According to Mishra, the understanding was limited to the Rajya Sabha polls.

Speaking on the issue, Santrupt Mishra said the Congress cannot send a candidate to the Rajya Sabha on its own, and therefore the party supported Naveen Patnaik’s candidate in the election. He described the arrangement as a short-term understanding between the two parties.

Mishra also clarified that the Biju Janata Dal does not need to play the “Biju Card”, referring to invoking the legacy of Biju Patnaik, while discussing the current political equation surrounding the Rajya Sabha elections.
