Odisha Lawyers Stage Mass Protest after Senior Advocate Pitabas Panda Shot Dead

ବ୍ରହ୍ମପୁରରୁ ବରିଷ୍ଠ ଆଇନଜୀବୀ ତଥା ଓଡ଼ିଶା ରାଜ୍ୟ ଆଇନଜୀବୀ ପରିଷଦ ସଦସ୍ୟ ପୀତବାସ ପଣ୍ଡାଙ୍କୁ ଗୁଳି କରି ହତ୍ୟା ପ୍ରତିବାଦରେ ରାଜ୍ୟବ୍ୟାପୀ ଆଇନଜୀବୀଙ୍କ କଲମ ଛାଡ଼ ଡାକରା । ସୋମବାର ରାତିର ଘଟଣା ପରେ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଆଇନଜୀବୀ ପରିଷଦର ଜରୁରୀ ବୈଠକ ପରେ ଜାରି ପ୍ରେସ୍ ବିଜ୍ଞପ୍ତିରେ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ କରାଯାଇଛି ଯେ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଆଇନଜୀବୀ ପରିଷଦ ତରଫରୁ ଏହି ଘଟଣାକୁ ତୀବ୍ର ନିନ୍ଦା କରାଯାଉଛି। ବୁଧବାର ରାଜ୍ୟର ସମସ୍ତ ଆଇନଜୀବୀ ସଂପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କଲମ ଛାଡ଼ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି ନେଇଛନ୍ତି । ସେହିଭଳି ୪୮ ଘଣ୍ଟା ଭିତରେ ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଗିରଫ, ମୃତ ଆଇନଜୀବୀଙ୍କ ପରିବାରକୁ ୧ କୋଟି ଟଙ୍କା କ୍ଷତିପୂରଣ, ତଦନ୍ତ ପାଇଁ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ତରୀୟ ବିଚାର ବିଭାଗୀୟ କମିଟି ଗଠନ ପାଇଁ ପରିଷଦ ତରଫରୁ ଦାବି କରାଯାଇଛି ।

Senior advocate Pitabasa Panda, member of the Odisha State Bar Council, was shot dead in Berhampur (Brahmapur), Odisha, late Monday night. In response, lawyers across the state have decided to leave their court duties (kolam chhāḍ) and launch a statewide protest starting Wednesday, demanding swift justice.
