On the occasion of International Women’s Day, two women sanitation workers from Ward No. 12 in Balasore shared their painful realities of life. With no husband, son, or daughter to support them, the women said they survive only by working hard every day in sanitation work to run their households. “What Women’s Day for us? We work to eat,” they said, highlighting their daily struggle for survival. Their voices reflect the ground reality faced by many working women who continue to fight economic hardship while carrying out essential civic duties. International Women’s Day, observed on March 8 worldwide, recognizes women’s achievements while also drawing attention to ongoing challenges and inequalities faced by women in society.
