GST raids are being conducted at all tour and travel offices operating along the Puri beach area. The inspections are aimed at verifying whether tour and travel agencies running businesses in the Puri municipal area possess valid trade licences and are properly depositing GST, or if they are involved in tax evasion.

Officials are also checking whether tourists are being charged more than the fixed rates for site-seeing trips to Bhubaneswar, Konark and Satapada, or if bookings are being made at the correct prices. Allegations of cheating tourists by overcharging are part of the ongoing investigation.
