In a shocking incident on the night of October 6, 2025, senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabasa Panda was shot dead near his residence in the Brahma Nagar area of Berhampur, Odisha. Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at close range, leading to Panda's death. The police have formed six dedicated teams, led by senior officers, to investigate the murder, which is suspected to be pre-planned.
