In a major escalation, the United States has reportedly attacked and sunk the Iranian Navy ship IRIS Dena off the coast of Sri Lanka, leaving 87 crew members dead and several others missing. The warship was said to be carrying a total of 180 crew members at the time of the incident.

According to reports, 30 crew members have been rescued by the Sri Lanka Navy, while casualties are feared to rise. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has claimed that the American forces carried out the attack, allegedly using a torpedo to sink the vessel.
