A herd of 30 wild elephants has been stranded on an island in the Baitarani River near Turumunga village, Khireitangiri section of the Patna Forest Range in Keonjhar district, Odisha. The elephants became trapped while attempting to cross the river late Friday night en route to Mayurbhanj district. Forest officials have arranged emergency feeding, providing sugarcane, bamboo leaves, and bananas to sustain the elephants during their ordeal. Efforts are underway to ensure the safety of the herd and facilitate their safe passage.

The incident has attracted large crowds along both riverbanks, with residents gathering to witness the rare sight. Forest authorities have urged the public to maintain a safe distance to avoid disturbing the elephants and to allow officials to manage the situation effectively.
