Fifteen Maoist cadres from the BBM (Bolangir‑Bargarh‑Mahasamund) division, including Odisha cadre members such as Mao leader Sudarshan, formally surrendered to security forces in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, marking a notable development in anti‑Maoist operations. The group laid down their arms and cooperated with police personnel, turning themselves in as part of intensified efforts to curb Left‑wing extremism and restore peace in insurgency‑affected areas. Officials said the surrender reflects growing pressure on insurgent networks and may pave the way for rehabilitation under existing government policies encouraging cadres to enter the mainstream.
