At the revered Lingaraja Temple in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the sacred ritual service known as nītikānti may remain suspended again today during the Mahā Kārtika month. After the Mangal Ālati holiday yesterday, the servitors may keep the service closed, leaving hundreds of devotees and future aspirants without the Lord’s prasāda (divine offering).
“Even today we may be deprived of the Mahā Prabhu’s prasāda,” say disappointed devotees. The temple administration has intervened, but no resolution has yet been announced.
The interruption of service has cast a shadow over the devotees’ hopes during one of the most auspicious periods of worship. The situation underscores longstanding operational and personnel challenges within the temple’s ritual framework.
