The state is home to spiritually significant Shiva shrines including Gupteshwar in Koraput district, Huma Bakhreswar in Sambalpur district, and Chandaneswar in Balasore near the Odisha–West Bengal border. These temples are believed to fulfil devotees’ wishes and remove fear and suffering, especially during Shivaratri and the holy month of Shravan.
