ପୌଷମାସ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୋଇଥାଏ ଧନୁ ସଂକ୍ରାନ୍ତିଠାରୁ । ଏହି ସଂଙ୍କ୍ରାନ୍ତିରେ ବଡଦେଉଳରେ ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଧା ମୂର୍ତ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ପହିଲି ଭୋଗ ଲାଗି ହୁଏ । ପରମ୍ପରା ଅନୁସାରେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣିତ ଅଛି ମା ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ଏହି ଦିନ ତାଙ୍କ ବାପା ଘରକୁ ଯାଇଥାନ୍ତି , ତେଣୁ ଶ୍ରୀଜୀଉଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ରୋଷେଇ କରି ଖୁଆଇବା ପାଇଁ ମା ଯଶୋଦା ବଡ ଦେଉଳରେ ବିରି,ଚୂନା,ନଡିଆ, ଗହମ ଓ ଘିଅରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ୨୮ ପ୍ରକାର ବ୍ୟଞ୍ଜନ ତଥା ଲିଆରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ମୁଆଁ ଆଦି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହୋଇ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଉଦୟ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଶ୍ରୀଜୀଉଙ୍କୁ ଖୁଆଇ ଥାନ୍ତି |Dhanu Sankranti, marking the beginning of the Pausha month, is being observed across Odisha from December 16 with traditional rituals and devotional fervour. At the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri—popularly known as the Bada Deula—the sacred Pahili Bhoga is offered to the Chaturdha Murti before sunrise.
