In a deadly ambush on October 8, 2025, in Orakzai district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, 11 Pakistani soldiers, including Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Arif and Major Tayyab Rahat, were killed during an intelligence-based operation targeting Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants. The operation aimed to neutralize insurgents operating near the Afghan border.

The TTP, also known as 'Fitna al-Khawarij' by the Pakistani military, claimed responsibility for the attack, which began with roadside bomb explosions followed by a gunfight. The clash resulted in the deaths of 19 militants. The Pakistani military has vowed to continue operations to eliminate terrorist threats in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the bravery of the fallen soldiers and emphasized the government's commitment to combating terrorism. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by Pakistan in its northwest regions.
