In Bhubaneswar, BSF IG Shiv Adhar Srivastava issued a strong ultimatum to Maoists: surrender today, or face encounter. The Border Security Force aims for a Naxal-free Odisha by March 2026. Surrendering militants will be offered cooperation and the opportunity to return to mainstream society.
“The message is loud and clear — surrender now or be eliminated,” said the BSF IG, signalling intensified operations after the recent Hidmar encounter. So far this year, Odisha has witnessed 19 Naxals killed, 8 arrested, and 6 surrendering, according to BSF.
