Markets are now flooded with water chestnuts (Pani Singada). Large-scale cultivation of these seasonal fruits is taking place in Haladipada area of Balasore district. Interestingly, local farmers here are giving more importance to water chestnut farming than traditional paddy cultivation, as it yields better profit and requires less maintenance.
