The central government has taken strict measures to curb the sale of fake ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) in the market. Going forward, no ORS product can carry a label claiming health benefits or flavored variants without approval from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued stringent guidelines to implement these rules immediately across all states and union territories. This step aims to ensure public safety and prevent the circulation of substandard or counterfeit ORS products that could pose serious health risks.

Consumers are advised to check for WHO-approved labels and buy ORS only from verified sources to avoid counterfeit products.
