Kohli’s Fighting Century Goes in Vain as New Zealand Win ODI Series 2–1

Virat Kohli’s valiant century went in vain as New Zealand clinched the ODI series 2–1, winning the final match by 41 runs. It is the first time since 2019 that Team India have lost a home ODI series.

Batting first, New Zealand posted a strong total of 337 runs. Chasing a target of 338, India lost openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill early, with both dismissed within 45 runs.

Kohli anchored the innings with a brilliant knock, staying at the crease for a long time and scoring a fighting 124-run century. Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 53 runs, while Harshit Rana added 52 runs, but India were eventually bowled out for 296.

With this defeat, India lost an ODI match at Indore’s Holkar Stadium for the first time.
