Tension prevailed in the state capital after a youth was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Pahal on the National Highway close to Rudrapur. The deceased has been identified as Somanath Khuntia from the Sundarpada area. The accident occurred while he was crossing the road, when an unidentified vehicle hit him.

Following the incident, locals staged protests leading to a traffic blockade on the National Highway. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road as anger spread among residents.

The tragic death triggered unrest in the area, with commuters facing severe inconvenience due to the highway jam.
