The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday clarified why it suspended party leader Arabind Mahapatra. The party said it had been holding an internal intelligence report for the past 22 months and alleged that Mahapatra breached party trust soon after receiving the election ticket.

Responding to the suspension, Arabind Mahapatra accused the BJD of bringing new allegations every time. Taking a dig, he said all accusations should be written down at once. He also reiterated that he would try to speak to BJD president Naveen Patnaik regarding the allegations levelled against him.

The political row highlights growing internal conflict within the BJD, with the suspended leader seeking direct intervention from the party supremo.
