In a significant development in Jajpur, Odisha, Dhaneswar Sethy, the Ward Member of Ranjpur Panchayat's Ward No. 3, has been released after being abducted for nearly a week. The abduction occurred on October 1, 2025, when Sethy was traveling to Binjharpur. His family accused the kidnappers of causing harm to Sethy, alleging that the abduction was orchestrated due to a dispute involving the Sarpanch.

On October 8, Sethy was found abandoned near a police station, approximately 2 kilometers away from the original site of the abduction. The police have initiated an investigation to identify the perpetrators and uncover the motives behind the crime. Authorities have stated that the delay in the planned ransom payment led to the release of the Ward Member.

The incident has raised concerns about political rivalries and the safety of public representatives in the region. The police are working diligently to resolve the case and ensure justice is served.
