In a major anti-corruption crackdown, Vigilance officials have arrested Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle, after seizing over Rs 4 crore during raids at five locations including his residence in Srivihar, Bhubaneswar. Mohanty was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe, following which extensive searches were carried out.

Vigilance sources claim this is the highest cash seizure in the department’s raid history. Officials are now investigating how Mohanty, who reportedly began his career with a salary of just Rs 8,000, accumulated assets worth more than Rs 4 crore.
