Three-Day Crocodile Census Begins in Satkosia Gorge Along Mahanadi River

A crocodile census has started in the Satkosia Gorge section of the Mahanadi River in Odisha’s Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary, where forest officials will count crocodiles over a 22-kilometre river stretch. The census will continue for three days, aiming to record how many crocodiles, including Gharials and Muggers, are present along the gorge. Such surveys are a routine annual exercise conducted by the Odisha Forest Department to update population data of these reptiles.
