The Supreme Court has come down heavily on alleged errors in an NCERT Class 8 General Science textbook that included content related to “corruption in judiciary.” During the hearing, Chief Justice Justice Suryakant observed that the content appeared to be an attack on the judiciary and questioned what message it would send to students, teachers and parents.

The Court directed that both soft and hard copies of the book be banned until responsibility is fixed. Show-cause notices have been issued to the Education Secretary and the NCERT Director. The Chief Justice remarked that the matter seemed like a serious conspiracy and sought clarity on who was behind it.
