A low-pressure area has formed over the north-east Bay of Bengal, raising concerns for farmers in Odisha as paddy harvesting is underway. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is likely to intensify within the next 24 hours and move west–northwest over the next 48 hours. Though it may not have a direct impact on Odisha, rainfall is likely due to a trough line passing over the state.
