A new seismic hazard report has heightened concerns about a potential major earthquake in India. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has released a revised earthquake zoning map that identifies the Himalayan region—from Jammu & Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh—as the most dangerous Zone-6, a category introduced for the first time.
