The remark links the students' demand for university status to the legacy of former CM Biju Patnaik's father Madhu Babu (Madhusudan Das), after whom the pension scheme is named—highlighting perceived neglect by authorities. Amid over 28 days of agitation (including class boycotts, road blockades, and candlelight marches), students expressed anger over the state budget ignoring their historic institution (est. 1913, Odisha's first women's college) while announcing new universities elsewhere.
