Senior Congress leader Sur Rautaray has criticised party colleague Moquim (Mohammed Moquim), saying that his public actions are harming his daughter Sofia’s political career. Rautaray suggested that if Moquim wants to form a new political outfit, he should do so — but warned that using public media to speak against party leadership and supporters is not right.

Rautaray said, “If Moquim wants to build a new team, he can. But speaking against party leadership and loyal supporters through the media is inappropriate.”

The remark comes amid internal disagreements within the Odisha Congress. Moquim’s daughter Sofia Firdous is a sitting MLA from Barabati-Cuttack constituency, reflecting her rising role in state politics. This statement highlights ongoing tensions over political conduct and the impact of public criticism on individual careers within party ranks.
