At the ongoing Somnath Swabhiman Parv festival in Somnath, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen playing the damru (a traditional drum symbolising Lord Shiva) as part of the Shaurya Yatra, a ceremonial procession honouring warriors who defended the historic Somnath Temple. The event is being held from January 8 to 11, 2026, to mark 1,000 years since the first attack on the temple and celebrate its enduring spiritual legacy.
