President Droupadi Murmu performed the traditional pinda daan ritual at Nabhi Gaya in the sacred precincts of the Biraja Temple, Jajpur district, Odisha. As part of this ancestral rite conducted for her forefathers, she also presented donations to the brahmanas, including the gift of a silver cow and other items, in accordance with age-old Hindu customs observed at the holy site.

The pinda daan ceremony, conducted with utmost reverence, saw the President engage with the temple priests and perform rites praying for peace and salvation of ancestral souls. This event underscores President Murmu’s participation in one of the region’s most significant religious traditions, drawing attention to the spiritual heritage of Nabhi Gaya and Biraja Temple.

Biraja Temple, a historic 13th-century shrine dedicated to Goddess Biraja (Durga), holds deep cultural and religious importance in Odisha. Authorities had prepared the temple complex and sacred areas in Jajpur ahead of the presidential visit, marking this as a major ceremonial highlight during her tour of the state.
