Senior BJD leader Debashish Samantaray has resigned from his position as Vice-President (in rank) of BJD’s senior citizens’ cell, objecting to what he described as a “demeaning” and bureaucratic designation. He questioned whether loyal veterans supporting the legacy of the party’s founders still have any place in the reorganised structure.

Responding sharply, Pramila Mallik said some leaders are driven by self-interest rather than ideology — such people should leave the party if they cannot stay true to its values.
