A major political controversy has erupted over the Haldiapadar overbridge in Berhampur, Ganjam district, after allegations surfaced that the bridge’s design may have been altered to avoid land once owned by the family of the late BJD minister Surjya Narayan Patro. His son, Biplab Patra, acknowledged the family’s former ownership of land beneath the bridge but denied any wrongdoing, stating the land was sold well before construction began.
