OSCPCR to Revisit KISS, Probe Campus Environment After Student Death: Babita Patra

Following the student death incident at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) has announced a fresh inspection of the institution. OSCPCR Chairperson Babita Patra stated that the team will revisit KISS to closely study the overall campus environment.

She said the commission will examine students’ education, food quality, living conditions, and other facilities. The OSCPCR has sought the investigation report from the police and has also asked the KISS authorities to submit their report in connection with the incident.

The commission is probing why a post-mortem was not conducted after the student’s death. The inspection team reportedly found that students were being housed in unhealthy conditions, with overcrowded accommodations resembling rented lodgings, raising serious concerns over child safety and welfare.
