Congress MLA Ramchandra Kadam claimed that although the new government in Odisha had pledged no forcible evictions, in the recent rabi and kharif seasons eviction drives (kaṭaṇī chaṭaṇī) were conducted unabated. He asserted that while promises were made to “fulfil people’s demands,” implementation is lacking.
