The Odisha Government has invoked the Essential Services (Maintenance) Act (ESMA) to stop the ongoing doctors’ agitation in the state. Under the official directive issued by the Home Department, doctors will be barred from striking or stopping work for the next six months. This move comes amid protests by medical professionals who had been boycotting duties, including outpatient services, to demand better terms and conditions.
