Transport Minister of Odisha has indicated that pollution fines under the PUCC (Pollution Under Control Certificate) system may be reduced. The government is evaluating new rules that could lower penalties for pollution-related violations, similar to regulations in Madhya Pradesh.
“The government is considering reducing the fine from ₹10,000 to ₹2,000 to ease the burden on citizens,” said the Transport Minister.
This move is aimed at balancing enforcement with public convenience, ensuring compliance while not overburdening vehicle owners. The proposal is still under government review before official notification.
