Strong action has been taken in Chhattisgarh over obscene dance performances. In Gariaband district, 17 event organisers have been arrested and the Sub-Collector has been transferred following allegations of vulgar dance shows. The crackdown has triggered a wider debate on whether similar action will be taken in Odisha against obscene item dances in jatra performances. Responding to the issue, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that action may also be taken in Odisha if required.
