Nuapada Block Development Officer Rohit Bhoi was allegedly assaulted, following which he approached the police station seeking action. The incident is reported to have taken place at the block office in Nuapada district.

The attack is linked to an ongoing dispute over the construction of a Panchayat building. While the Panchayat headquarters was planned at Bhaisatal, construction work was being carried out at Baloda, which was being opposed by a section of villagers.

Despite the opposition, the construction was continuing as per the directions of the High Court. However, on the day of the incident, a group of youths reportedly reached the block office and assaulted the BDO, escalating the dispute into a law and order issue.
