As the New Year approaches, temple officials have confirmed that the Dhwaja Bandha ritual — the sacred flag-tying ceremony at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri — will be conducted at the proper, scheduled time for devotees. A senior Chunara servitor involved in the temple rites said the ritual will take place alongside regular darshan (holy viewing of the deity) on New Year’s Day, offering devotees a spiritually meaningful start to the year.
