Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik attended the Odisha Legislative Assembly on the opening day of the session but has remained absent thereafter. Over the last nine days of House proceedings, he was present only for a single day.

His absence has triggered political debate, even as he continues to stay active on social media and holds meetings with party leaders and workers at his residence to discuss organisational matters.

Responding to the controversy, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) stated that Naveen Patnaik has been unable to attend the Assembly regularly due to health-related issues.
