In a major crackdown, Vigilance officials caught Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of the Mining Department, Cuttack Circle, allegedly while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a coal mine trader. The arrest was made during the transaction.

Following his arrest, Vigilance launched a disproportionate assets probe against the officer. Late-night raids were conducted at his residence in Srivihar, Bhubaneswar, his office in Cuttack, and other locations.
