Lord Lingaraj remained without rituals even on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti as the temple’s daily nitikanti (rituals) continued to be suspended. The disruption, ongoing since the previous day, is due to an internal dispute between the Badu and Suar Nijog servitors. The conflict reportedly erupted over the Kheera Auta ritual—specifically over who would perform it—leading to a standoff among sevayats. As a result, rituals have remained halted since the Sandhya Dhupa on the previous evening, leaving the revered deity in upasa (fasting) even on the festival day.
