This morning, the Jagatsinghpur Gharoi Bus Owners’ Association launched a strong protest — including a chaka bandh and dharma ghat (peaceful sit-in) — against the commencement of second-phase bus services under the CM bus scheme. Private bus operations in Jagatsinghpur, Paradeep, Machhagaon and across the district came to a complete halt, with private buses not plying on the roads as a sign of resistance. The action reflects growing unrest among private operators over government-run bus services that they believe undermine their business and affect their livelihood.
