Is an internal conflict brewing within the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the Korei Assembly constituency? Senior BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das, popularly known as Bobby Das, has made sharp remarks indirectly targeting former MLAs from Korei during a programme in Byasanagar of Jajpur district. Though no names were taken, the comments have triggered intense political discussion.

Speaking at the event, Bobby Das said that over the last 15–17 years, many leaders were given opportunities in Korei, but after gaining political mileage, they “left Korei and moved away”. He admitted that such actions created mistrust within the party, adding that BJD leaders must unite to break the atmosphere of distrust.

During this period, leaders like Priti Ranjan Ghadai, Akash Das Nayak and Ashok Bal were elected as MLAs from Korei. Reacting to Bobby Das’s statement, former MLA Priti Ranjan Ghadai said he was unaware of the context in which the remarks were made. Bobby Das also acknowledged that feelings of rivalry exist among BJD leaders, even as the party maintains that it remains united across Jajpur district.
