Political rhetoric is intensifying in the capital following two murders, with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) targeting the state government and calling for stricter accountability. BJD leader Ashok Panda stated that those in power must ensure they do not turn a blind eye to crime — governance must not lapse under their watch. He emphasized the need for firm law enforcement and zero tolerance of crime, especially in a state like Odisha, known for its peace.

“How can those in authority ignore such crimes? We must adopt a policy of zero tolerance,” he remarked. He urged the Home Department and law enforcement to take decisive action against criminals immediately.

In recent days, the murders have become a flashpoint for debate over the state’s law and order situation. The opposition is pushing the narrative that the government must respond swiftly and restore public faith in safety and justice.
