Illegal hoardings have turned deadly in the Twin City after two persons lost their lives in Bhubaneswar. The incident has raised serious questions over the functioning of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), especially as the hoarding was reportedly declared illegal three months ago but not removed. The tragedy occurred in the Aiginia area.

Following the incident, the Chief Minister expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia assistance of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased. Meanwhile, concerns are also mounting in Cuttack over several iron advertisement boards posing similar threats.
