The Odisha BJP Krushak Morcha has defended the state government’s ₹800 bonus for paddy farmers, responding to opposition claims that farmers are not receiving the promised bonus by highlighting that the BJP-led government fulfilled its pledge to give ₹800 input assistance per quintal on top of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) — a scheme launched soon after taking office and directly credited through Direct Benefit Transfer to farmers, reversing a long period when a promised ₹100 bonus was not delivered by the previous regime.

Spokesperson Shubhranshu Padhi, President of the BJP Krushak Morcha, said that since the bonus introduction, paddy cultivation has increased and the government is now working to expand storage and procurement infrastructure to handle the extra produce, asking critics for time to build capacity while reassuring that the government remains with farmers and there will be no hardship for cultivators.

The additional ₹800 assistance per quintal is part of the state’s broader Samrudha Krushak Yojana framework, under which paddy is effectively purchased at around ₹3,100 per quintal (₹2,300 MSP plus ₹800 input assistance) — a promise made in the BJP manifesto and implemented via direct bank transfers in the Kharif Marketing Season, helping thousands of farmers sell their crop at a fair price.
