After strong local opposition, the Gajapati district administration has resumed land acquisition work at a disputed 10-acre site in Onkadunguru village of Jeerang panchayat. With a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in force and three platoons of police deployed, officials have begun acquiring the land earmarked for tourism development and the construction of a five-star hotel.
