In a tragic incident, harvested paddy crops spread over eight acres were gutted in a fire at Badagada village under Seragad block in Odisha’s Ganjam district. The incident occurred last night, leaving three farmers completely devastated after their year-long hard work was reduced to ashes in the threshing yard.

The affected farmers had hoped to earn some income by selling the paddy at the market yard. However, the sudden fire has pushed them into distress, with tears refusing to dry as their entire livelihood was destroyed in minutes.

According to sources, the farmers had already harvested the crop and stacked it in the threshing yard. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The incident has dealt a severe blow to the farmers, breaking their financial backbone.
