Farmers across mandis in Odisha are sitting in distress as millers remain firm on their decision not to lift paddy. The situation has worsened over the past two days after the Odisha Millers Association stopped paddy procurement, leading to widespread hardship for farmers waiting with their produce.

Farmers have warned of launching an agitation if the deadlock continues. Repeated meetings between the Supply Minister, Managing Director (MD) and the millers’ association have failed, following which the Cooperation Minister made serious allegations, claiming that millers are being influenced by external forces to deliberately put the government under pressure.
