In Salia Sahi, Bhubaneswar, the Odisha Excise Department conducted a major raid on an illegal desi liquor (country-made liquor) hub, seizing a huge quantity of pocha (fermented wash/raw material) and other contraband, officials said. The operation follows information about unauthorised liquor production and storage in the locality.

“Acting on credible inputs, our team raided the site and confiscated large volumes of country liquor stock and pocha, disrupting the illicit supply network,” said an Excise Department official involved in the operation. The officials added that further investigations are underway to identify those responsible.

This action is part of ongoing enforcement to curb illegal alcohol manufacture and distribution in Bhubaneswar. Residents of Salia Sahi have previously been the focus of similar crackdowns as authorities step up efforts to enforce excise laws and protect public health.
